At the national celebration for World Youth Skills Day 2015, OPJCC student Sushila Behra made us proud.  She received her hard-earned PMKVY certificate and job card from Prime Minister Modi, one of only three PMKVY skills training students felicitated at the event.  Sushila remarked, “I never travelled far beyond my village, so going to Delhi on a plane and meeting the Hon’ble PM was more than thrilling for me and my family.”  Sushila plans to become a vocational trainer in industrial painting.  By word of mouth, she heard about Aparajita from participants who are now earning regular wages. Aparajita is OPJCC’s signature programme for rural women’s empowerment for sustainable livelihood creation.  Sushila   signed up for training with several friends from her remote village in Raigarh District.  She will start working as a painter on a government project organized by OPJCC staff.  After getting work experience, she plans to return to OPJCC for advance level training until she qualifies as an instructor. Almost 500 rural women have undergone construction and plumbing training in Aparajita since its inception in April 2013.  Aparajita students are agents of change in their villages, and symbols of hope for gender equality nationally. #SkillIndia
