Quality vocational education and training fulfills dreams and aspirations.  Just ask Laxmidhar Samal, a pass out student from the Plumber Trade at OPJCC Angul, Private ITI. Coming from a big family, including a new wife, Laxmidhar had a burning hunger to develop himself. OPJCC instructors and staff responded by pushing Laxmidhar to achieve his personal best.  Although all students have opportunities that an encouraging and responsive environment provides, Laxmidhar made the most of his studies at OPJCC. He excelled in practical training and soft skills, including communication and personality development classes.  His efforts paid off.  After completing his training programme, Laxmidharwas appointed through a competitive interview at OPJCC Barbil as a Demonstrator where he helped others develop their knowledge and technical skills in plumbing. Teaching he recalls was great, but his dream was for something more.  Today, Laxmidharholds the designation Technician at the prestigious Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru. His current salary during the 6-month training period is Rs. 17,800. OPJCC staff confidently predict that Laxmidhar will meet his new employer’s expectations. Post-probation period this Decemer 2017, Laxmidhar’s salary should increase to Rs 25,000 per month!
